Target Audience/Video concepts and ideas/Types Of music video

The Target audience for my music video is very hard to define as the genre of music that I am creating a video for is appealing to a wide range of people, as acoustic/folk is appealing to most people from the ages of 1-100 so it's hard to say who my video will specifically aimed at, in my opinion I think that the target audience will mainly be people aged between 15-30 this age range is because within the video I will be approaching feelings like loss and loneliness, in relation to romance something to which I believe people of this age bracket can relate, however in the same way it could relate to an older age range like 70-80 years old if they have lost their partner in death.

I will be creating a music video for the song "Hey There Delilah" by "The Plain White T's" I was thinking of doing a paper slide type video like the video "you need to get off Facebook" by "sonnysidevideos" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UouP8cRYZ8) also within the video there will be clips of me singing and playing guitar and black and white footage of a journey in a car or on a train, this links in with the topic of the song. The concept of the music video will basically be the story of how much the main protagonist is missing his lover this will be shown by flash backs of times that the couple were together and the cards that he will show will Read things like "I love you" and "I miss you". the colour scheme for the video will be all shot with a black and white filter over the camera, this will create feelings of nostalgia, loneliness and  it will help set a dark semantic field.

There are 3 different types of music video;
1. Performance based music video:
A performance based music video will feature the artist/musicians/actors/performers playing their instruments in supposedly "real time" and singing to the camera (usually in a live setting) the musicians will often stare into the camera lens in these types of video in order to connect with the audience watching at home or on the bus or wherever they may be.

2. Narrative based music video:
In a narrative based video there will be a story being told throughout the video which is designed to connect with the audience, most of the time there will be a moral to the video e.g. don't do drugs or sometimes it may just be the story of a lonely milk carton that is lost in a strange town... in these videos the main protagonists usually wont look directly into the camera unless it is for a specific purpose

3.Concept Music video:

A concept music video usually has random words or images that have nothing to do with the music video,
a perfect example of this is the video "somebody I used to know" by "Gotye", in this video the singers are stood seemingly naked and they gradually get painted in time lapse, this has no relation to the lyrics in any way.
